Overview
Depending on what part of the country you mostly fly, icing can be a common challenge or something of an odd occurrence. Either way, a flight in icing conditions can quickly become an emergency for the pilot unaware of what they are getting into, or unable to deal with a deteriorating circumstance. For many, including larger well equipped airplanes, avoidance is often the best option. Nonetheless, with the right training and equipment, icing is a very manageable part of flying in IMC.
This module is designed to give you practical insights into the challenges of icing. From fundamental theory and making reliable forecasts, to strategies and techniques of managing icing from startup to shutdown.
